We knew very little about home education and only knew a couple of families that educated their children at home. We felt that we wanted to do something different and we knew that this “different” choice would be life changing. We were also very aware that we did not have all the answers as to HOW we were going to do it; but we knew the Lord would help us. After a lot of prayer we began to teach our first child at home.
Fast forward a few years and we now have three children and the Lord has us on the most amazing journey. We’ve learned a lot as we’ve sought to teach our children but the most important lesson we’ve learned is that Christ needed to be the center of all that we do. One of the things that has helped us is trying our best to see God for who He is….great, mighty, sovereign…the list goes on. We have found that staying focused on Christ and his word keeps us motivated and strengthened to keep going.
Psalms 77:12 (NIV) states, “I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” This scripture has served as a reminder to us to remember all the great things God has done EVEN in the midst of difficult days. No matter where you find yourself on the road of home education: first year home educator, veteran home educator or weary home educator, may we encourage you to see God as GREAT. The same God that created the heavens and the earth is able to guide and help you as you teach and train your children.
We pray that we are able to help you see Him in all that you do. Check out our blog, or submit a prayer request. We would love to hear from you!
